Troubleshooting Outlook Sync
PlanPlus Online Sync Utility build 3117
Compatible with 2013 - v 3.0 build 3117b is compatible with Outlook 2003, 2010, and 2013.

Calendar Sync - For Calendar the sync utility will synchronize Appointments for 90 days back, and all appointments going forward.
In detail the PlanPlus Online Sync Utility will synchronize
1) Single Events from 90 days back and all forward
2) Recurring events that -may- occur from 90 days back and all forward
a) All recurring events with no Recurring end date
b) All recurring events with a Recurring end date later than 90 days back.

For Calendar items to transfer, they must have a subject. Calendar items with no subject will not synchronize.

Contacts Sync - Microsoft Outlook keeps count of the number of contact records.
The record count may different between PlanPlus Online and Outlook if there are:
Duplicate Records in Outlook. PlanPlus Online sync will not transfer duplicate records from Outlook, so fewer records would show in PlanPlus Online.
Blank Records in Outlook. PlanPlus Online Sync will not transfer blank records from Outlook, so fewer records would show in PlanPlus Online.
Connection Problems - There are some common issues related to not being able to connect using the PlanPlus Online Sync Utility below are some of the common issues and resolutions for them.
1. Most common problem: Entered URL is incorrect. Double and triple check it. For the .us server the Sync URL is required to be http://www.Planplusonline06.com all other servers will require the respective server name 05, 08 etc.
2. Be sure Internet Explorer works to the site. Not all PC are set to uses IE as the default, but IE sets Windows settings that will be used by the sync.
3. PlanPlus Online Sync Utility has proxy settings. However, If the browser gets through PlanPlus Online Sync Utility will also.
4. Most common firewall issue: Set the Executable name as a trusted program in the firewall system. Often firewalls only allow certain processes through. They all have IE.exe and firefox.exe listed, but CompanionLink.exe needs to be added to the list. CompanionLink uses HTTPS to access the PlanPlus site. Not FTP or any other protocol. So in understanding proxy problems look at how the proxy might be blocking https access. IF you are experiencing connection problems through you servers a log file will be the best source to finding the problems.

Timed Sync - you can set up the PlanPlus Online Sync Utility to automatically sync the data. To set up the timed sync go to the PlanPlus Online Sync Setup icon located on the Desktop. Select the Settings click next until you get to the Auto Synchronization. Here select the best option for your sync.
1. The smallest interval will be 1 hour
2. The sync can be set to sync once each day at a certain time
3. The sync can be set to sync between certain times.
4. You can also set it to manually sync when you would like to sync
Things you should know if Auto Sync is set up:
1. The sync will engage as the PC is started - if you have a setting to sync every hour and the PC is shut down the next sync will begin when the PC is started.
2. The sync will not sync if the PC is not on or has not connection - no sync will occur if the PC has been turned off or lost connections.

Troubleshooting:
Duplicates can often occur when there is existing data on both the PC and the device before performing your first sync.
Other times, it may appear that your data has duplicated when it actually has not. Many devices, like Android, allow for multiple database "accounts" in which contact and calendar data can be stored. You may have existing data in one account, and CompanionLink may sync your PC data to a different account on the device, causing it to appear as if there are duplicates. More info about the appearance of duplicates in the Android contacts accounts
Duplicates can also occur when using more than one sync tool. Please ensure that you have disabled any other sync software you may have installed on your PC. We also recommend disabling any other automatic sync your device may provide, such as synchronization with Google.
PlanPlus Online Sync uses a special technology to skip past records that have already been synchronized. The first time a new database is processed it's much slower because PlanPlus Online Sync must check every field. Subsequent processes are much faster, because PlanPlus Online Sync only updates the data that has changed.

Sometimes, data changes in a way that PlanPlus Online Sync does not recognize, for instance, if you manually erase a data file.

If you feel that the record count in PlanPlus Online is no longer reflecting the data record count in your PC contact manager, or that the field values in PlanPlus Online do not reflect the current PlanPlus Online Sync configuration, check the appropriate Reread next Sync to force PlanPlus Online Sync to reread the databases and update all fields.

These options are automatically unchecked when a process completes without errors.
To Check Reread Outlook Data on next Sync or Reread PlanPlus Online Data on next Sync:
? Go to the Maine Screen
? Select Options from the top of the screen
? Click on Reread Outlook Data on next Sync to check or uncheck the option.
? Click on the Reread PlanPlus Online Data on next Sync to check or uncheck the option.
Corruption: When the synchronization stops in the middle of processing, corruption in your data is likely the cause.

If the error says something like, "Reading Outlook tasks 32," the corruption is in Outlook, in the Tasks folder, record 31, 32 or 33. You can delete the record referenced and the one before and after.Use the Microsot Office Diagnostics tool (or the Detect and Repair feature, for Outlook 2003) after deleting suspected corrupt records.
How to find Log files:
