IMAP allows you to access your email messages on the servers, instead of downloading a copy of it to your local machine. (Such as POP operates.)
As far as PPO v 7 is concerned you will have a "Home Page," which is simply a "View" of your Outlook Data. We use the task, calendar and email data from Outlook in a different view. There are no changes on how this works from version 5 or 6 to v7.x.
If your Exchange or IMAP account has been a problem in the past you will want to look a bit deeper as to what may have been the problems preventing access to the data. This could be caused by a proxy server or a Company firewall that would prevent the data from being displayed in the Home Page and are highly dependent on individual configuration.
